Abandon

Happy Monday!

This is a big week for us, a good time for this word-of-the-week…

ABANDON

Abandon can mean to withdraw or run away—that’s not what I’m thinking about.

I’m thinking of approaching life with reckless abandon, a sense of excitement and exuberance. Living life “all-in”—doing whatever I do with abandon.

That’s not my natural style. I tend to hedge my bets and formulate an escape route if things don’t go well. I’m not normally all-in.

We leave this week to begin the bike ride. As I talk about this adventure, I find myself holding back some of my excitement. What if something goes wrong or I can’t do the miles? What’s my fallback position if the project fails?

I don’t want to begin this once-in-a-lifetime adventure with that sort of half-committed attitude. I want to find the courage to lay it all on the table and accept what happens.

I want to be all-in—with Rich’s Ride, with Jesus, and with whatever I do.

I begin this week committed to doing life with abandon.

Are you in?

Have a great week.

A fun note: Rich’s Ride was featured on Denver’s NBC affiliate last night. See the story here.
