Foolish

Welcome to Monday and a whimsical word-of-the-week. This week I’m thinking about …

FOOLISH

Last Saturday I shared a talk by Steve Jobs (Stay Foolish). I’ve been thinking a lot about this simple advice.

Sometimes I think I take everything—especially myself—a little too seriously. When this happens I lose track of what’s really important and what’s not.

This tends to push me toward overanalyzing everything and getting absorbed in not-so-essential details. I stop having fun and start avoiding any sort of risk.

I think Jobs was right—it’s good to stay a bit foolish, take some chances, and chase my dreams. It’s not good to get too cautious, too focused, too intense.

Life needs some whimsy, some foolishness, and a little less frowning. My commitment this week—to keep taking chances, putting myself out there, and maybe even purposely being a bit foolish.

Do you ever feel like you’re taking it all too seriously? What can you do to add a little foolishness to your week?
