Renew

Happy Monday. Hard to believe it’s the last week of June, but 2010 is indeed nearly at the halfway mark. This week’s word-of-the-week is …

RENEW

Have you ever just needed a fresh start, a clean slate? Ever wanted to start over?

One of the many amazing aspects of following Jesus is the reality of new beginnings. No matter where we’ve been, what mistakes we’ve made, God offers each moment as an opportunity to choose a different path.

Renew doesn’t have to mean a complete overhaul. Sometimes it’s just an update, taking stock of where you’ve been and making necessary course corrections. Six months is a good time to assess, evaluate, and renew. I want to use this week to look at my goals for the year and see where I might need to change some tactics, and I want to use it as a time to renew my commitments to those goals.

Personally, I also have a specific renewal in mind. I’ve been planning an overhaul of my web site for a while, and it’s time to get started. The site’s been up for about three years and I’ve been adding on, making new stuff fit in the old framework. Now I plan to make it a bit tighter, more concise, and hopefully more helpful and easier to navigate.

Since I’m not a web designer, I learn as I go. I enjoy it, but I also make a lot of mistakes as I learn. So if you encounter a strange-looking page or something that doesn’t work as it should in the next few days, I ask for your patience.

So this week is a time for me to renew my online presence as well as my commitment to offer something useful to you. We’ll see how it goes.

How about you? What can you renew this week?
