Big Wisdom From A Small Mouth

As a former teacher, I was inspired by kids. I learned more from my students than they could possibly have learned from me.

I taught them a bit of mathematics.

They taught me about wonder and possibility, about seeing the world through eyes not yet jaded by the experience of what can’t be done. They taught me that I was a person, not a person in a wheelchair, that my heart mattered more than my legs.

I got the better end of the deal.

(They also taught me that it’s possible to type a text message one-handed while your phone’s in your back pocket–amazing, but not all that useful for a guy whose fingers don’t work.)

This eight-minute video demonstrates what’s possible. I encourage you to watch and imagine, then share it with a parent or teacher.

I hope you’re enjoying a relaxing, blessed weekend.
