For those of us in the US, today is election day.
I wanted to offer something profound, some wisdom to get us past the anxiety and conflict. Unfortunately, I got nothing.
So, before we know the outcome, I’ll revert to my former-teacher self and ask us some questions.
What did you learn about yourself during this election season?
What did you do well regarding the election? What would you like to do better next time?

Personally – I became acutely aware of my tendency to judge (condemn) those who see things differently.
It’s one thing to disagree. That’s about discernment, and it’s part of any healthy community. But Jesus was crystal clear about the negative consequences of allowing discernment to slip into condemnation.
A couple of weeks ago I wrote about trains and judgment, a metaphor about making sure I’m on the right train before I fuss about someone else’s. I’m curious – has this been a struggle for you during this election?
For example: Have you found yourself thinking No Christian could possibly support…?
Sad confession. I have, and I’ve had to check myself. That’s not my judgment to make.

Let’s remember – Jesus holds this entire thing in His hands, and I’m pretty sure He’s not worried.
