Humans are creatures of story.
We stop and stare whenever we encounter a good story. No matter how brief, we identify with the characters and take to heart the lessons embedded within their encounters.
Here’s a wonderful story from my friend Dick Foth:
A man parked his shiny new sports car in a rather sketchy urban neighborhood. As he got out and locked the car he saw a young man staring longingly.
“Hey, Mister,” said the kid. “Where’d you get that great set of wheels?”
“My brother gave it to me.”
“Get outta here.”
“No, really. He just handed me the keys as a gift.”
The young man looked at the owner, at the car, then back at the owner.
“Wow,” he replied quietly. “That’s the kind of brother I’d like … to be.”
