HAPPY MONDAY!
An amazing young man got me thinking about today’s word-of-the-week…
EXAMPLE
Being a professional athlete provides a huge platform. It’s interesting to watch how different individuals leverage that opportunity.
We’ve heard the debate about athletes as about role models. Personally, I think it’s silly. There are plenty of knuckleheads playing big-time sports. That doesn’t make them bad people, but there’s no reason to emulate a person’s behavior simply because he happens to be a gifted athlete.
However, I admire the folks who choose to use their platform to lead by example, to inspire others to be just a bit better and dream a bit bigger.
Charles Tillman plays football for the Chicago Bears. Last weekend he was honored as NFL Walter Payton Man of the Year.
Tillman’s a good football player. His willingness to be vulnerable, to use his platform and his story to inspire the rest of us, is a great example of what’s possible.
I encourage you to take a few moments to view these two videos.
