Happy Monday!
The passing of a giant sparks thoughts of today’s word-of-the-week…
JUSTICE
For me, Nelson Mandela stands with Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr. as transformative figures of the twentieth century.
Mandiba, Gandhiji, MLK—all three stood for forgiveness, nonviolence, sacrifice, and reconciliation. They acknowledged their failures, endured significant personal hardship, and placed service above personal gain.
Above all, what distinguished these men was a relentless pursuit of justice.
I saw a quote that’s been attributed to all three men. Perhaps that’s fitting, since none of them cared about receiving credit.
There is a difference between Justice and Vengeance.
Justice is setting things right.
Vengeance is just switching oppressors.
Monday’s a good day to reaffirm our commitment to seek justice.
Have a great week.
