Happy Monday!
Winding down our latest bike tour inspires today’s word-of-the-week…
BLUR
Life passes so quickly. One moment she’s a tiny baby. Then it’s kindergarten, graduation, wedding, and grandchildren. We’re often left saying, “Seems like only yesterday…”
FLORIDA HOPE TOUR 2013 seems like a blur. Seems like one day we were in Jacksonville preparing to begin, then suddenly I woke up in a Tallahassee hospital and the whole thing was over.
Two observations:
Live every moment. Don’t wish away days. Do all you can to enjoy each present moment as the gift it is.
Record the experience. Photos, video, whatever you can do to preserve the memories. I know you’re sure you’ll remember the details, but you won’t.
One great piece of advice I received when we started the Mississippi River tour was to write down the stories daily. It’s difficult, but I’m glad I stuck with the habit most of the time.
Maybe you keep a journal. I blog, which serve some of the same purposes. Writing the stories and your thoughts in real time provides a record that removes some of the blur.
I don’t want great experiences like this tour to disappear into a blur of indistinguishable faces and places. I want to live them fully, but I want to recall and learn from them as well.
How about you? How will you keep the events of this week from dissolving into a blur?
