Last week’s word-of-the-week was DAILY. I’m noticing something else about trusting God for the daily progress of Rich’s Ride.
My initial idea was to ride 200 miles each week. That would mean I’d only need to do 100 miles during the final week to reach the 1500-mile goal.
I also planned to do a little extra during the first few weeks when I was fresh. That way, I’d have a little cushion in case I faded toward the end.
Every week we’ve started with a plan to exceed 200 miles, and every week something has prevented that from happening. Weather, difficult terrain, equipment issues, last-minute speaking opportunities—something has kept us from creating that insurance against future problems.
But—we’ve always been able to stay right on schedule. We can’t get ahead, but we haven’t gotten behind. We’ve been able to do just enough.
It reminds me of the manna provided by God to Israel in the desert. They couldn’t collect extra; they got what they needed for the day and learned to trust that God would provide for the next day.
God’s teaching me a great deal through this project. I believe one of the lessons involves allowing each day to take care of itself, trusting that the next day will have its own issues and rewards.
God provides what I need each day.
I need to learn how to be content with just enough.
